Organic Chemistry

Organic Chemistry is one of the few science electives whose main focus is chemistry. Unlike the general chemistry course, organic chemistry specifically focuses on carbon-containing compounds.  Why Carbon? Well because Carbon is the basis of life on Earth and understanding it gives us an insight into the very fabric of our planet, medicine, food, drugs, and more. The BB&N course is two trimesters long and it covers everything from how carbon-based compounds are formed to how they behave in different situations. This class pushes students to think about chemistry in a creative way by using the tools they learn to predict chemical outcomes and interactions.
