What were the most unique advancements at CES 2024?
CES, the Consumer Electronics Show held in Las Vegas, is not only the largest tech convention but also the largest business conference in the United States (1). Thousands of displays showcasing the latest technological advancements are presented for celebrities, reporters, and consumers to judge. This year, CEO of NVIDIA Jensen Huang gave a speech in which he announced his company’s new graphics card lineup as well as major AI advancements (2). A surprising category this year was the countless smart glasses that were under development. This lineup included Rokid Glasses, which have micro-etched displays on each eyepiece yet appear as regular glasses. Honda also presented electric cars from their Global EV series with futuristic spaceship-like appearances. Smaller companies exhibited their unique products, including the Swippitt, a box and charging case for your phone. Once placed into the box, the case’s portable battery is replaced in just a couple of seconds, effectively giving you a full charge. Roam SodaTop created a portable carbonator for your water bottle, which uses a CO2 canister to instantly create sparkling water on the go. Additionally, Ventiva’s fanless coolers utilize electrohydrodynamics to move ionized air silently (3). With 2.5 million square feet of space for over 4,000 exhibitors, CES 2025 garnered almost 150,000 attendees, showcasing another year of major innovations in the technological sphere (4).
